The Sr. Director – Finance will join a team of financial professionals responsible annual budgeting and real-time reforecasting, monthly and quarterly financial reporting, portfolio analytics, and market research. This role will interact extensively with LivCor asset management and executive leadership, Blackstone multifamily asset management, Revantage (LivCor’s affiliated real estate services company) accounting and treasury, and LivCor’s operating partners. The Sr. Director – Finance will be responsible for critical financial reports and analysis presented to Blackstone and LivCor’s executive leadership team. The position reports to the VP – Finance and will have at least 3 direct reports.

What you will do:

  • Oversee the annual budget and reforecast processes providing guidance and expertise to a team of ~15 finance professionals; expertise in residential rental income, occupancy, and expenses (controllable, property taxes, insurance, and capital)
  • Determine portfolio and market drivers that impact net operating income projections and results and communicate those to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify value-add opportunities throughout the portfolio to thoughtfully maximize revenues and reduce expenses
  • Deliver ad hoc analyses to LivCor asset management and Blackstone, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Review quarterly financials to provide executive level insights and commentary to be presented during the Blackstone board of directors quarterly meeting. Includes high level presentation of multifamily industry trends, capital markets activity, portfolio performance, and major capital projects and other company initiatives
  • Work with Revantage accounting, tax, and risk teams to ensure alignment and understanding of financial trends within the portfolio results
  • Vigilantly and proactively participate in a continual process improvement initiative. Develop processes that save time while maintaining the highest quality standards
  • Compare LivCor performance to the public multifamily REITs and present results at a company and market level to the executive leadership team. Become an expert in reviewing REIT earnings releases, public filings and supplemental financial reports
  • Coach and develop team members, providing real-time and formal feedback

What you should have:

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in finance or reporting leading a team of a similar size (~10 finance professionals)
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or real estate
  • Candidates with experience with investor relations and/or multi-family residential industry will be given strong preference
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, self-confidence to lead a meeting and discuss financial results with executive leadership team or Blackstone asset management team
  • Strong work ethic: strength to thrive in a dynamic and demanding work environment, ability to meet critical deadlines, capable of critical self-reflection and honest assessment of performance, desire to learn and continued self-improvement, motivated by desire to achieve excellence
  • Proficiency in commonly used office software and ability to adapt to new software tools
  • Basic understanding of accounting (general ledger, trial balance, and capital policy) is a plus
