The SVP of Finance will lead a growing team of 40+ financial professionals responsible for monthly and quarterly financial reporting, market/portfolio/regional analytics and insights, budgeting and reforecasting, and market research.  This person will be responsible for leading and executing the department strategy, overseeing financial reporting and analysis, and will interact extensively with executive leadership, asset management, Revantage (LivCor’s affiliated real estate services company) accounting and treasury, and LivCor’s operating partners.

What you will do:

  • Partner with EVP of Finance to define, enhance, and execute the finance department strategy.
  • Lead, engage, and inspire a team of 40+ financial professionals who are passionate about our industry and aspire to grow their careers at LivCor. You will lead our efforts in finding and developing talent, allocating resources, managing workload, and designing and implementing solutions that support our business strategy.
  • Conduct analysis of the current operating environment to benchmark with company objectives to identify success or gaps in key processes.
  • Serve as primary contact for analytical and adhoc informational requests from LivCor’s CEO, EVP-Operations, and other senior executives.
  • Lead team in driving the annual budget and reforecast processes by developing baseline assumptions and an overall approach to the process, while collaborating with asset management and Operating Partners; present final budget/reforecast to executive leadership team and Blackstone.
  • Collaborate with Revantage accounting on accounting policy or other concerns raised by the AM team, FP&A or Operating Partners.
  • Active involvement in the quarterly preparation and presentation of a high-profile deliverable (board book) presented to senior real estate leadership team at the quarterly board meeting. 
  • Partner with asset management team in quarterly regional performance reviews; oversee the generation of the reporting packages and supporting analysis.
  • Review monthly portfolio/regional financial reporting package; evaluate performance metrics, highlight notable issues and trends, and develop meaningful and insightful commentary using data to tell a story about our property, portfolio, overall market performance and future trends/expectations.
  • Identify notable data trends/insights and make recommendations that support our business goals; review macroeconomic and industry data impacting multifamily sector and identify notable trends (e.g. employment, wage and job growth, new supply, rent and occupancy trends and lease trade out data).
  • Demonstrate understanding of the methodology and sourcing of data from various research and industry data publications such as RealPage suite of products (YieldStar, Performance Analytics, Market Analytics, Axiometrics), Green Street, Real Capital Analytics, Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc.
  • Coach and mentor people managers in development of leadership skills and people best practices. 

What you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or real estate.
  • 20+ years of progressive, relevant experience in accounting, FP&A and/or financial reporting within a commercial real estate firm. Experience in multi-family or start-up environment preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience successfully leading and managing an FP&A team is required.
  • Passion for digging into data and using it to tell a story, provide insights or recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge of Oracle PBCS or similar budgeting software.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a dynamic and demanding environment.
  • Ability to pivot with ease when priorities and strategy shift.
  • Extraordinary oral and written communication skills, ability to discuss financial results and make recommendations to the executive leadership team.
